ABORTION: “Women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy also deserve unplanned joy.  We need to work together to systematically eliminate the root causes that drive so many women to abortion – primarily the lack of financial resources and lack of emotional support.”  (Patricia Heaton, actress, author and pro-life advocate).
Suggested Prayers: For those tempted to choose death as a solution to end of life problems, we pray to the Lord.

IMPORTANT DATES: First Communion - May 2, 2010;  Confirmation – March 13, 2010

TOLEDO PHILOSOPHERS MEN’S GROUP: Attention men 16-22 years of old!  Fr. Hertzfeld and Fr. Poggemeyer are starting a young men’s group under the patronage of St. Raphael and St. Joseph.   We hope the group will be a support for young men trying to live out God’s wisdom  The group is not focused on discernment for the priesthood, rather it should help young men to dig into the faith intellectually and commit themselves more fully to it as they study and discuss it.  We envision the group meeting every first and third Wednesday of the month.  The first meeting will be at St. Rose Perrysburg, 5:00-7:00p.m.  Basic components of the meeting?  Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, including a short talk; simple review of prayer commitments; discussion of a theological/philosophical classic (beginning with C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity); dinner.  Please call St. Joseph’s Parish office to let us know you will attend.  We need a count in advance in order to prepare enough food.   Hope to see you there!

ST MARY’S OF THE ASSUMPTION, PAGE STREET: Members of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Page Street, are invited to celebrate liturgy and a picnic on the Feast of the Assumption, August 15, 2009 at 4:00p.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, 1119 W. Bancroft St., Toledo.  For ease in planning, please RSVP to Sister Virginia Welsh, St. Martin De Porres parish (419-241-4544 or the Padua Center, 419-241-6465).

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT ENVELOPES: Capital Improvement envelopes, for our extraordinary repairs, are in the back of the church on the radiators next to the bulletins.
