Happy New Year From Fr. Poggemeyer and Staff!!!

ABORTION: “If abortion is bad for children because it kills them, and we find out through good, solid research that abortion is harming the mental or physical well-being of women – and subsequently the fathers of those children as well as members of their extended families – then at some point we will have to ask as a society, ‘if abortion is bad for all these people and causing all this damage, who is it good for?’ We all know the answer: the abortion industry.” (Olivia Gans, Director, American Victims of Abortion)
Suggested prayer: That the slaughter of the innocents through the practice of abortion may come to an end, we pray.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE: Holy Family Sunday is not just about Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Your family, too, is called to be a “sign” to the world of a way of life modeled after the Holy Family. Like Mary and Joseph, you will be a “sign opposed” by others. For being different a “sword will pierce your heart.” If we are doing it right, pain and Christianity go together!

WHITE COAT MASS: The Catholic Medical Association will sponsor a White Coat Mass here on Friday, January 2, 2009, with Fr. Stephen Majoros celebrating. This Mass will be followed by a Rosary at the Center for Choice on 22nd St. All parish medical professionals and families are invited to participate.

WIN A TRIP TO THE WASHINGTON, D.C. MARCH FOR LIFE: January 22, 2009, commemorates the Supreme Court decision which has sanctioned the slaughter of over 50 million babies and traumatized their mothers since 1973. Youth from 13-20 who want to stand up for life can compete by finishing this statement with 100 words or more: “Planned Parenthood is not good for teens (or anyone for that matter!) because…” Send to Stasa’s Life Corn, 12353 Frankfort Rd., Swanton, OH 43558 by December 31, 2008. Please include your name, age and phone number. Letters will be judged for factuality, clarity and persuasiveness. One student will be awarded the January 21-23 trip and will be notified by January 2, 2009.
